The tunnel connects the stables with Residenzchloss. It is approximately 102 meters in length and 10 meters in height. The painting showcases thirty five princes from the Wettin House. The thirty five princes ruled during the Wettin dynasty in 1127.

The painting display was painted in 1870. It took 6 years to complete the painting. The painting was painted by Wilhelm Walter. After many years, the paint on the wall faded. As a result, the government purchased 25,000 ceramic tiles in 1906. The ceramic tile is square in shape and has a measurement of 20.5 cm on each side. The ceramic tile is provided by a porcelain manufacturer from Meissen.

During the Second World War, about 654 tiles are broken. During 1978, the government began the restoration work on the tiles. The first figure displayed in the painting is Konrad the Great. The last figure displayed in the painting is Friedrich August III. The last king shown in the painting ruled from 1904 – 1918. On the left and right sides of the display, there are texts. You can find out the name of the 35 rulers on the name. The name is located underneath the figure in the painting.
